A MESSAGE FROM OUR PRINCIPAL

1To the Viking community:

I am very excited to announce my role as your new principal.  This is a task that I have prepared for in many ways, and for quite some time.  I will take great pride in leading ourschool in a positive direction with a balanced emphasis on all facets of education.

Parsippany Hills High School delivers a broad range of experiences and opportunities meant to encourage intellectual, social, and emotional growth. Students have demonstrated excellence in academic, athletic and community service areas since 1969 when our doors first opened.  We’ve accomplished this by embracing the Parsippany Troy-Hills Township School’s mission statement, “to provide instruction in all program areas, to develop the learning potential of all students, to build skills for a lifetime of learning, and to develop a feeling of self- worth and confidence that will allow students to become productive members of society.”

As I reflect on my time as an administrator at Parsippany Hills High School, I am proud of the many accomplishments our school has made.  While moving from a New Jersey Monthly Magazine ranking of #87 in 2008, to #50 in 2010, and then #23 in 2012, I’m reminded daily of successes that these impressive numbers don’t reflect.  I’m referring to accomplishments like the splendor created in our music and art programs, the smiles generated from countless community service projects, and the cheers that echo from our athletic fields.  Our students produce more than high test scores and stellar grades.  They produce diverse experiences, character and personality.

As your Principal, I will remain committed to maximizing student opportunities for growth in all areas. We will accomplish this through excellent teaching that is continually  supported with the latest innovations in delivering instruction. We will continue to refine our curriculum, embrace new technology, and prepare our students for 21st century skills and job opportunities, some that don’t exist yet.  We will continue to explore new clubs and interests, carry on old and new traditions, and bring our Viking nation to new heights.

I encourage all students, parents, and teachers to strive for excellence and take advantage of the opportunities presented to you this school year.  Parents, appreciate the time watching your children grow.  Teachers, take pride in the short time you have to mold our future.  Students, there will never be a time in your life that is quite like high school.  Make it count in every way.

Committed to you,
Michael F. DiSanto
